Preparing for Ceremony

Ensuring a soft landing

Kambo is an incredibly powerful and transformative medicine and ally, but ultimately it is YOU doing the work. Your preparation and intentions leading into ceremony will determine the outcome of your experience, so please take some time to gain clarity on what it is you are coming to Kambo for.

I also ask that you nourish your body in a supportive way for at least 3 days leading up to ceremony, as this will make for a more comfortable experience all around.

While there are no set-in-stone dietary restrictions for Kambo, it is best to eat as clean as possible both before, and after ceremony.

I ask that all my clients:

  • Eliminate processed foods

  • Limit consumption of dairy & sugar

  • Stick to extra virgin olive, coconut, and cold-pressed avocado oils (NO SEED OILS)

  • Do NOT avoid salt! This is very important in protecting you from hyponatremia. Stick to sea salt and pink himalayan, not table

  • If possible, add trace minerals or sea salt to your water in the days pre & post ceremony for extra electrolytes

Please refrain from alcohol and recreational drugs for a minimum of 3 days on either side of your ceremony. This is very important for your safety.

Be sure to let me know if you have had a recent 5-MEO-DMT experience (within 2 weeks), or are coming out of an Ayahuasca dieta (within 3 days).

You are required to fast for 10-12 hours before your session.
(unless you are microdosing, then please only fast for 2 hours)

Smoothies and juices are okay 6+ hours before you sit if you are unable to fast for the entire 10-12 hours. Herbal tea and water are okay up until your ceremony, although try not to consume too much since you will be drinking 1.5-2 litres of water during our time together. Little sips throughout the day are fine if you are thirsty.

CAUTION FOR colonics, enemas, liver flushes, or water based detoxes for 3 days on either side of Kambo, due to possible electrolyte depletion.

Setting an intention for your session can help minimize any surprises that may come up post-ceremony.

It’s important to be honest with yourself about why you are choosing to sit with Kambo. Meditation and journaling are great ways to get clear on your intentions. Below are some preparation questions that will assist you in solidifying your “why”.

  • What is my desired outcome from experiencing Kambo?

  • How will achieving this outcome make my life better?

  • What do I hope to release and let go of during my session?

  • Am I ready to be honest with myself about how I truly feel?

  • How are my current behaviour patterns hurting me now?

  • How have those patterns helped me in the past?

  • What choices can I make to change negative behaviour patterns?

You may find that things related to your intention begin making appearances in your life BEFORE sitting with the medicine. Just remember to be gentle with yourself, and honour what arises. Journaling is a great tool in helping us process and prepare for ceremony.

Creating positive affirmations that align with your intention for ceremony can benefit you greatly. Read each aloud 3 times, before moving on to the next, for the most potent reprogramming effects.

Complete the following:

  • I am…

  • I am not afraid of…

  • I release…

  • I am calling in…

  • I embody…

  • I receive…

Integration

Continued growth and healing

Once your ceremony is complete, the integration of all that you experienced begins. It is a beautiful opportunity for you to change the narrative, and step into a renewed, more aligned version of self. Honour your mind, heart, body and spirit through some self-love practices, and continue to eat nourishing, supportive foods for (ideally) 3-5 days. This is our time to integrate wisdom and love back into the body.

You may find that you feel lethargic, achey, or sensitive for several days after the session. This is perfectly normal, and is to be expected for those with deeper rooted ailments such as Lyme or an Autoimmune disorder.

Within 24 hours of completing your ceremony, answer the following questions:

  • During my Kambo experience, I felt…

  • Once my experience was over, I felt…

  • During the session, I did a good job at…

  • During the session, I could have done better at…

  • If I choose to sit with Kambo again, what will I do differently next time?

  • During my experience, I noticed my thoughts were…

  • During my experience, I witnessed myself…

3-10 days after your ceremony, answer the following questions:

  • How has my perspective shifted after my session with Kambo?

  • Have I experienced any new or intense emotions after my ceremony?

  • What have I gained clarity on since my experience?

  • Is there anything that I’m confused about since my session?

  • What is one thing I have learned from sitting with Kambo?

  • After doing Kambo, I am more…

  • After doing Kambo, I am less…

  • How can I take what I have learned from the Kambo experience, and make my life better?

I am here for you every step of the way, so please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. I invite you to share your experience with me at any point in time.

To support your integration and overall well-being, I would also highly recommend incorporating some wellness practices into your daily/weekly routine, such as:

  • Breathwork

  • Walking

  • Mindfulness meditation

  • Time in nature

  • Journaling

  • Acupuncture

  • Massage

  • Float tanks

  • Sound therapy
